[edit] Introduction

From the Maui Website:

Maui Cluster Scheduler, the precursor to Moab Cluster SuiteĀ®, is an open source job scheduler for clusters and supercomputers. It is an optimized, configurable tool capable of supporting an array of scheduling policies, dynamic priorities, extensive reservations, and fairshare capabilities.

[edit] Priority

I am a relatively new user of the of the UF HPC facility, and have been pretty successful in running my jobs to date. My jobs have usually taken about an hour or two to run, and I usually get email notification a few minutes after I put in in the job queue. Today, however, I haven't been succesful at that and I'm wondering what the problem may be (if at all it is a problem). I have tried running the same jobs, but this time, even after several hours of they being in the queue, they haven't even begun running yet. I have also noticed by checking its status that many jobs after them have begun running ahead of mine. How is priority determined by the facility? Is there any way that I can have my jobs run faster?

Priority is determined by the investment made in the HPC Center - if your faculty advisor contributed money to the HPC effort, you would get high job start priority. Jobs from sponsored by faculty investment get highest priority. An investment is the only way to increase your priority.
